After months of waiting, acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker and director Tunde Kelani‘s Ayinla film has finally arrived. The film is based on the life and times of Ayinla Yusuf, also known as Ayinla Omowura, a late pàlà music legend.

Tunde Kelani's Ayinla is a suspense-driven novel that tells the story of Ayinla Yusuf, also known as Ayinla Omowura (an Apala musician), his rise to fame, his identity, the depth of his craft and music, and the basis for his relevance after his tragic death forty years ago as a result of a stab from his manager, Bayewu, during a bar fight on May 6, 1980 in Abeokuta.
The film is scheduled to be released on June 18, 2021.
Ayinla The Movie is directed by ace film director Tunde Kelani, the mastermind behind films such as "Saworoide," "Thunderbolt," "Magun," and "Maami," and produced by box office hitmaker Jade Osiberu. “Isoken” and “Sugar Rush.”
Jadesola Osiberu created the film, in which she told the tragically short but influential musical career of the iconic Apala music artist, and it is proudly supported by Nigeria's premier commercial bank, First Bank Nigeria.
